Last night I saw Blitzen Trapper at the Old Rock House in St. Louis. Of course they were great. Usually with a band you can focus on just a couple guys but with Blitzen you have to watch everybody because they are all that talented. The new record isn't out yet but you actually can by the vinyl at their show (you also get a mp3 download card as well but that doesn't unlock until the day it officially comes out). It was $20.
The new songs they played were Thirsty Man, Heart Attack, Earth (Eric on banjo), and Shine On. All the new songs seem a little more funky then past albums. I'm a drummer and guitarist and I was amazed at their playing. Everyone in the band makes their playing seem effortless. There are all kinds of added little riffs and fills that they add live. It makes for an awesome show. My wife hardly new any songs by Blitzen Trapper and she really enjoyed the show. Live and from this forum I've heard maybe six new songs and they are really great. When I first heard Heart Attack I thought maybe it was one of the weaker songs that would be on the album but live they killed it and proved me wrong. Can't wait for the new album!
