New Album out in September

OCDBT4ME 4/29/15

Some news from a recent interview with EE:

Blitzen Trapper is preparing to release its follow-up to 2013's "VII" in September. Earley says the band's eighth studio release may be entitled "Rock and Roll Was Made For You," but a final name has not yet been decided. It will be released by Vagrant Records.

"It's a little more of a live, aggressive record. It's probably the truest-sounding to our live show ," he says. "In certain ways, it harkens back to [Blitzen Trapper's 2011 album] 'American Goldwing' or even maybe some stuff on [2008's] 'Furr.' It's a return to a classic rock sort of thing."

Sooo...how soon can I pre-order? :)

NEED.  I'm jonesing for new Blitzen Trapper currently harder than new Springsteen, and that's saying something.

Happily, we're getting both this fall.

Hey guys, we played one of the new jams at some of the shows back in April. May I direct your attention to https://archive.org/details/blitzentrapper2015-04-20.matrix.flac16 -- track 20 is "Rock And Roll Was Made For You" (this won't be the name of the record btw).

Another recent addition to archive.org that might be of interest here is a recording from Ketchikan, AK last summer where me and Eric performed as a duo: https://archive.org/details/BlitzenTrapper_201504

The tour in July we'll be rolling out some more of the new material and hopefully some of those shows will be taped--we just added a show in Iowa City where I know there's a taper who's been setting up since the Wild Mountain Nation days. Stay tuned!

I'm really diggin' the new song!  I'll be there when you come back to Florida.

Thanks for the link to the new song, it sounds great! The Thirsty Man from that show is pretty tasty too. I love how you guys jam it out.

And I'm loving getting my day started to the sound of that Duo show! Great recording and the songs sound amazing in the stripped down acoustic versions.

As Bjork would say - It's oh so quiet...

Here's a little tidbit for ya, Jungle - an article I read said the new album is called "All Across this Land".  And maaaaybe there's also a taper setting up in Missoula for this Wednesday's show?!

Kevidently 6/30/15

I MAY have looked into flights to Missoula. MAYBE. Alas, they were a zillion dollars.

Oh KILLER.  Thank you!!!!

junglelove 7/14/15

archive also has a couple of shows from NC/SC in spring - not laced with so many tunes from the new album though..

OCDBT4ME 7/15/15

Thank you for posting this, Jungle! What a great soundtrack for a summer afternoon!

junglelove 7/20/15

Far bigger thanks to the taper "Tim Jamison" and the band for allowing show sharing - but I do appreciate when posters and band peeps stick up good links etc on here. Stuff like this would tend to get lost on the FB site.

Much more to come I guess given the rumours of a new album in September ;)

Acclaimed Portland, Oregon rock quintet Blitzen Trapper is set to release All Across This Land on October 2 via Lojinx in Europe (on Vagrant in the US). Blitzen Trapper has built a solid reputation as a band unafraid to take chances. By incorporating a vast array of influences, they have released albums that touch on indie folk/rock, roots, art rock, alt country, psychedelia and pop, while maintaining a sound that is distinctly Blitzen Trapper. On their new studio effort, the group’s years of experimentation and experience have come full circle, culminating in their strongest, most cohesive work to date with the career milestone, All Across This Land. Acclaimed Portland, Oregon rock quintet Blitzen Trapper is set to release All Across This Land on October 2 via Vagrant Records. On their new studio effort, the group’s years of experimentation and experience have come full circle, culminating in their strongest, most cohesive work to date with the career milestone, All Across This Land

Blitzen Trapper may have experimented successfully with a multitude of styles; however, the band has been built on a strong foundation as, above all else, a ROCK band. Their live shows consistently reinforce that fact, and those who have experienced their performance would agree.

All Across This Land once again confirms that Blitzen Trapper possess the unique ability to create thoughtful, melodic, finely crafted songs on one hand, and deliver full throttle, infectious rock on the other. From the opening riff of the title track and first single, this is quite evident as it unfolds into a flurry of guitars, bass and drums. The band eases back as well by featuring some of lead singer and songwriter Eric Earley’s strongest writing yet, particularly on the semi-autobiographical “Mystery and Wonder”. The track’s reflective and nostalgic tone was inspired by the band’s beginnings, the chemistry that develops over time and the music they have created though the years. Another album highlight is “Lonesome Angel” with its easy ‘70’s AM radio feel.

While All Across This Land features some of Earley’s finest songs to date, the rest of his bandmate’s performances – Erik Menteer (guitar), Michael Van Pelt (bass), Marty Marquis (guitar/keys), Brian Adrian Koch (drums) – elevate each track thus taking Blitzen Trapper to their highest artistic peak yet.
